A24 Releases Full Trailer for 'The Drama' Starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson

The full official trailer for A24's "The Drama," starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as an engaged couple whose wedding week unravels due to a hidden secret, was released Tuesday.

The trailer shows the couple playing a game with friends in which participants share the worst thing they have ever done. Zendaya's character reveals something that shocks the group, including Pattinson's character, leading to visible tension, arguments, an awkward wedding photoshoot, and confrontational moments.

The film, written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, arrives in theaters on April 3, 2026. It marks the first of three 2026 collaborations between Zendaya and Pattinson.

Trailer Highlights

The trailer opens with lighthearted wedding preparations. Dialogue references the wedding occurring "this Saturday." The tone shifts during a dinner with friends played by Alana Haim and Mamoudou Athie. The group shares personal secrets, and Zendaya's character, Emma Harwood, discloses something that draws a strong reaction from Haim's character and unsettles Pattinson's character, Charlie Thompson.

Subsequent scenes depict strained interactions: an awkward wedding photo session where the photographer (Zoë Winters) urges them to "act like you know each other," heated exchanges including lines such as "You have to stop thinking about it" and "How do you say, ‘Stop thinking’?", a slap during an intimate moment, and Zendaya's character brandishing a knife. The trailer does not disclose the exact nature of the secret.

A24 has promoted the film with the official synopsis: "A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails."

Cast and Characters

Zendaya portrays Emma Harwood, described in promotional materials as a bookstore employee with a Boston University English degree working at Mission Books. Robert Pattinson plays Charlie Thompson, a British museum director with a Tufts art history doctorate overseeing the Cambridge Art Museum.

Supporting roles include Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie, Hailey Gates, and Zoë Winters as the wedding photographer. Additional cast members appear in production details.

Director and Production

Kristoffer Borgli wrote and directed "The Drama." It is his fourth feature and his second for A24 following the 2023 dark comedy "Dream Scenario," which earned Nicolas Cage a Golden Globe nomination. Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone produced the film.

Filming took place in Massachusetts (including Boston’s Newbury Street and the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover), New York City, and Los Angeles. A24, known for films such as "Everything Everywhere All at Once," "Midsommar," and "Moonlight," is distributing the movie.

Significance and Upcoming Collaborations

"The Drama" is the first of three films pairing Zendaya and Pattinson in 2026. The others are Christopher Nolan’s "The Odyssey" (scheduled for July 17, 2026, from Universal Pictures) and Denis Villeneuve’s "Dune: Part Three" (December 18, 2026, from Warner Bros.).

Zendaya recently starred in Luca Guadagnino’s "Challengers" and continues her Emmy-winning role as Rue in HBO’s "Euphoria" Season 3, alongside upcoming Marvel’s "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (July 31, 2026). Pattinson’s recent work includes Lynne Ramsay’s "Die My Love" opposite Jennifer Lawrence.

The Zendaya Robert Pattinson The Drama trailer has drawn attention for its mix of rom-com setup and darker A24-style tension centered on the pre-wedding secret.

Release and What Comes Next

A24 will release "The Drama" in U.S. theaters on April 3, 2026. No streaming or additional release details have been announced.

The trailer release provides the first extended look at the story after a teaser in December 2025. Public interest centers on the undisclosed secret and its impact on the couple’s relationship.
